Publish pages

Learn how to publish your Pixelesq pages, schedule deployments, and manage versions to make sure your changes go live smoothly.

Overview

Once you’ve created and edited your Pixelesq pages, the final step is publishing. Publishing makes your content publicly available, allowing visitors to see your latest updates. This guide covers how to publish individual pages, schedule releases, and use versioning features to maintain a smooth, controlled release process.

Prerequisites:

Publishing a Page

  1. Access the Pages Panel

    • From your Pixelesq dashboard, click Pages in the sidebar.
    • Locate the page you want to publish (e.g., “Home,” “Services,” or “Blog”).
  2. Open the Page Editor

    • Click on the page title to view it in the Page Editor.
    • Make final checks: confirm text, images, layout, and SEO settings look good.
  3. Initiate Publish

    • In the top-right corner (or wherever your theme places it), click the Publish button.
    • Depending on your plan or setup, you might see a Publish Now or Schedule Publish option.
  4. Review Changes

    • A pop-up or side panel may display a summary of your changes.
    • Review the content, confirm your live domain (if configured), and proceed.
  5. Confirm Publish

    • Click Confirm or Publish to make your page live.
    • Upon success, you’ll typically see a notification, and your page’s status changes from “Draft” to “Published.”

Scheduling Releases (Optional)

If your Pixelesq plan supports scheduling:

  1. Set a Future Date & Time

    • Instead of “Publish Now,” select Schedule Publish.
    • Choose the desired date and time for your changes to go live.
  2. Confirm Schedule

    • Review the scheduling summary—especially time zone details—and confirm.
    • Your page remains in “Scheduled” status until the designated time.
  3. Editing Scheduled Pages

    • You can still edit a page set to be published in the future. However, changes might require re-confirmation of the scheduled date and time.

Tip: Scheduling helps you manage time-sensitive content (e.g., product launches, announcements) without needing to publish manually at an odd hour.

Versioning & Drafts

Pixelesq may offer version control or a draft system to help manage your site content:

  1. Draft vs. Live

    • When you first create or edit a page, changes typically stay in “Draft” until published.
    • This ensures visitors only see polished, final edits.
  2. Creating Versions

    • If enabled, you can save multiple versions of a page.
    • Roll back to an earlier version if you need to revert changes.
  3. Previewing Drafts

    • Share a preview link (if your plan supports it) to get feedback without pushing changes live.
    • Great for reviewing designs or content with a team before a big launch.

Note: Versioning features vary based on your Pixelesq subscription. Consult your plan details or contact support for specifics.

Managing Live Pages

Once a page is live:

  • Unpublish
    • Temporarily remove it from public view.
    • The page reverts to “Draft” status, and the URL becomes unavailable to visitors.
  • Update On-the-Fly
    • Edit text, images, or layout whenever you like.
    • Click “Publish” again to apply changes immediately or schedule them for later.
  • Check for Broken Links
    • If you change the page slug or URL post-publishing, ensure any internal or external links are updated.

Best Practices

  1. Preview Thoroughly
    • Double-check your page on multiple devices before hitting Publish. A second set of eyes never hurts.
  2. Mind Your SEO
    • Ensure you’ve got relevant keywords in your page title and meta description.
    • Consider adding alt text to images for accessibility.
  3. Use Scheduling Strategically
    • Plan around important dates (e.g., product announcements, holiday campaigns) to ensure content goes live at the optimal time.
  4. Backup Critical Pages
    • If possible, maintain local backups or use Pixelesq’s versioning to safeguard against accidental data loss.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

  1. Why isn’t my page live yet?
    • Make sure you clicked Publish (rather than just Save Draft).
    • If scheduled, confirm the date/time or check if you have time zone mismatches.
  2. Can I change my slug after publishing?
    • Yes, but doing so can break external links. Use a redirect or update references across your site.
  3. My changes aren’t showing up.
    • Clear your browser cache or try an incognito window. Some caching setups can delay updates.

Next Steps

  • Optimize Performance: Once your pages are live, learn about caching, image optimization, and other techniques to keep your site running smoothly.
  • Explore Collections: For more complex or dynamic sites, check out Collections to manage blogs, product listings, or portfolios.
  • Manage Partials: Ensure headers, footers, or recurring sections stay consistent across the site. See Partials for details.

That’s it! You’re ready to publish Pixelesq pages confidently. Whether you’re pushing out small tweaks or launching a completely new site, this guide helps you take your work live at the perfect moment.
